Course Outline
Social mediation, as both a concept and a practice for the peaceful resolution of conflicts, is applied in social, legal, workplace, and educational settings. The profession of the mediator, understood as a 'facilitator' towards reaching an agreement between opposing parties, is certified and evolves across many areas of social activity. Familiarizing Sociology students with the trends and applications of mediation in justice, local communities, education, and the workplace will broaden their knowledge and develop their communication and active listening skills, with the aim of peaceful conflict resolution. The course also includes training students in mediation techniques through experiential exercises.
