Course Outline

This module addresses the impact of elevated CO2 concentration and climate change (including increased temperature and precipitation change) on the physiology of plants. It aims to contribute to understanding of the physiological processes that determine crop productivity in a changing climate. Learning outcomes:
  1. Describe important physiological and developmental processes in plants.
  2. Outline how these processes are regulated at the molecular, cellular and whole-plant levels.
  3. Recognise the importance and implications of regulatory processes for crop yield.
  4. Describe the methods that can be used for analysing crop performance.
  5. Outline the processes that determine the response of crops to elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration and climate change.
  6. Assess the impact of climate change on crop yield.
