Course Outline


The course examines the importance of work structures in shaping the social structure of modern societies. The teaching themes are as follows:
  1. a) Representative theoretical views and debates on the organization of work and its relationship to the structures of social order.
  2. b) The evolution of the division of labor at the end of the 20th century and in the first two decades of the 21st century.
  3. c) Empirical realities regarding employment and unemployment over the last three decades on a global scale (in selected countries).
  4. d) Different policy interventions for employment and combating unemployment.
  5. e) Alternative possibilities for enhancing employment and drastically reducing unemployment.
