Course Outline

In this course, the modern aspects of victimization are examined, which are not limited to the narrow framework of criminal acts but are related to social, economic, and cultural structures (structural victimization). Special emphasis is placed on the social construction of the victim, both within the context of criminogenesis and social reaction. The aim of the course is to deepen students' understanding of the investigation of criminal phenomena by focusing on the other pole of crime: the victim. A key objective of the course is to familiarize students with the processes of the ‘social construction’ of victims and the structural victimization of individuals or vulnerable social groups, within the context of social exclusion and minorities.
